This video tutorial shows how to convert Joomla! 1.0 templates to Joomla! 1.5 templates.

We keep getting requests about converting older Joomla! 1.0 templates to the new Joomla! 1.5 CMS standards. It's a perfectly natural question, especially for a client that has already paid for your original template designed for Joomla! 1.0.

The process can be simple or difficult, depending on the specific template you are working with. We are using Adobe Dreamweaver, as this is our tool of choice. Before we begin make sure you have the tools you will need, you can get most of them right here...

Note: This is a real-world example; we originally designed this custom Joomla 1.0 template for a client over 2 years ago.

Pre-Requisites

This Joomla! video tutorial depends on the following resources, and each should be downloaded and installed prior to starting. They are free, with the exception of Dreamweaver. We, like many others, use Dreamweaver for lots of tasks so including it in this Joomla! tutorial is a natural choice for us. A small amount of Dreamweaver will be helpful, however we find this product very user friendly and powerful. We should point out that it is completely possible to perform this template conversion with nothing more than a free text editor such as Notepad, but our Website is dedicated to helping beginners learn to use and administer the Joomla! Content Management System.We can't think of an simpler way to manually convert your Joomla! 1.0 templates to Joomla! 1.5 templates. We feel only a small amount of Dreamweaver experience is neccessary to perform this particular conversion.

The original video tutorial I created to accompany this article was damaged and un-recoverable. While I do plan to re-shoot this I do not yet have a new schedule.

Hi, Im a beginner, I need to convert joomla 1 template to joomla 1.5 template for a project. Im ready with the tools you have given here. I can understand something about what to do with that tools and I know to use dreamweaver but I need the "How To Convert Joomla! 1.0 Templates to Joomla! 1.5 Templates" video so that it would very much helpful for me to convert and need it very urgently to complete my project hence there is no time for me research on it myself. I request any help for me to view that video would be greatful.
